Obtaining a post-graduate diploma in Jazz Performance and Composition from Trinity College of Music and awarded the Archers Scholarship in 2009, Jimmy is also an accomplished saxophonist and drummer who has toured and performed with Sir Tom Jones, The Pasadena Roof Orchestra, The Commitments and The Syd Lawrence Orchestra.
A Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), Jimmy is a strong advocate for music education and is currently the module leader for performance and songwriting on the 2nd year BMus degree course at London College of Creative Media.
As session musician and composer, Jimmy has recorded for Carlsberg, Bupa, Aardman films, Mcasso Music, Roger Taylor, Jackie Leven, and continues to write and arrange songs with other artistes and producers.
Recent teaching positions have included: Junior Trinity, Latymer Upper School, Streatham and Clapham High School, Vocal Tech and Pilgrims School Winchester, teaching saxophone, clarinet, music theory and vocal studies. In addition, Jimmy has recently (2013/2014) been visiting tutor for termly class projects with Key stage 2 pupil at Norfolk House school North London and responsible for performing at creative curriculum events and the F6 Tempest performance at the end of year awards day.
Since 2009, Jimmy has been studying ‘Bel canto’ with Colin Baldy (New College Oxford), and uses this traditional technique as a foundation for his performance and teaching. Within his various ensembles, Jimmy explores various styles of singing including Jazz, Folk, Pop and the Anglo American resurgence, which he encourages his students to explore, believing that a rounded education and an understanding of stylistic fusion leads to individuality.
